The client really wanted the place to feel like a sophisticated contemporary desert escape—definitely not a typical dusty cabin.
Their main goal was to bring those stunning red rock views right inside, so they asked for creative ways to frame the scenery and let nature do the decorating.
They were obsessed with that rugged stacked stone look and wanted that texture on the walls, balanced out with warm wood floors and some cool copper accents to catch the light.
Basically, they needed a spot that was sleek and stylish, but totally chill enough to kick back with friends and a glass of wine at sunset.

To achieve this sophisticated aesthetic in Sedona, AZ, our approach was rooted in bringing nature directly into the experience of the home.
We utilized rough-hewn stacked stone to echo the rugged red rocks, physically grounding the airy volumes and blurring the boundary between indoors and out.
To prevent the stone from feeling too harsh, we balanced it with warm wood flooring and soft textures, ensuring the space felt organic rather than stark.
Creativity played a key role in harnessing natural light. We treated the windows as dynamic canvases, positioning copper accents to interact with the sun’s movement and allowing the room to transform from bright and energetic to a moody, glowing retreat.
The result is a modern design that feels less like a structure imposed on the land and more like a curated extension of the desert itself.
The creative direction for this project centers on the concept of "refined nature," aiming to distill the chaotic beauty of the Sedona landscape into a clean, sophisticated architectural language.
The strategy prioritizes a seamless integration of nature, where the home acts not as a shelter from the elements, but as a lens through which to experience them. We are establishing a visual hierarchy that places the red rock views as the primary "art," using expansive glazing to blur the boundaries between the interior footprint and the desert horizon.
To support this, the material palette is curated to create high-contrast tactile experiences that mirror the environment. We are juxtaposing the raw, geologic weight of dry-stacked stone walls against the precision of modern joinery and the warmth of wide-plank wood.
This "earthy modernism" is further elevated by creative lighting and metallic accents—specifically copper—which are utilized to capture the shifting desert light, ensuring the atmosphere transitions effortlessly from an airy, sun-drenched sanctuary by day to a moody, intimate entertaining space by night.

"Honestly, we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out; it has completely exceeded every expectation we had. My absolute favorite ritual has become winding down on the veranda at night. There is something deeply magical about sitting there with a glass of wine, just watching the stars come out over the dark silhouette of the red rocks. It brings a sense of peace that we were craving for years.
Inside, the house flows exactly how we hoped. I find myself actually looking forward to prepping dinner now because I can stand at the kitchen island, cooking, while gazing right out that massive window at the landscape. It feels like the view is right there in the room with me, making even simple meals feel special. On top of that, the house handles family life beautifully. Our grandson is absolutely loves to visit and enjoys climbing the boulders in our yard.
We have to give so much credit to Gabi. She was such an excellent listener from day one, really hearing us when we said we wanted a space that was 'sophisticated yet livable.' She took our vague thoughts and turned them into creative realities we never could have visualized on our own. I admit, I’ve done quite a bit of bragging to my friends—the design is just that spectacular. It strikes that perfect, hard-to-find balance of high-end luxury and total, relaxing comfort."
